Survival Unit

The survival unit in English was a very good unit we got to learn the different kinds of survival and what we have to do to survive if we are lost or even just survive in school. this unit taught us what to do if we are on a deserted island or anywhere also on the planet. The most important skill to know is Knowledge. Knowledge helps you find out the problem and figure out a way to fix it with minimal effort or resources. During the survival unit we watched a couple survivor man episodes where he showed us how to survive in remote places. The rest of the unit was reading books. One book that stood out was into the wild. Into the wild was a good book that showcased the life of a young man and his family’s reaction to him wandering off into Alaska and going to survive alone in a forest. The other books that we read showcased survival in different ways and showed different skills. The book The Old Man and the Sea showed a lot of survival characteristics and also showed to never give up. This book was about a fisherman who fought a fish for multiple days by hand with hand line. He never gave up and the fish ended up defeating him in the long run. This book shows that Santiago represents Survival traits. This unit was a very good one as it was a very solid way to convey survival to students.
